I find myself searching for Phone numbers when I am trying to recover some infromation about a business, specifically in Local Search when SMB's URL's aren't always intuitive or I need to get dirving directions. SEOing for Phone numbers would allow a local directory to get their advertisers infront of people looking for a specific business, maybe even educate a site user on alternatives to whom they are searching.

Fun Hypothesis & great use of Google Trends, thanks for writing an interesting article, and using some thought provking static's. I wonder how much of the decline in search volume for IYPs and the individual brands is due to the fact that IYP sites are utilizing SEO best practices and are showing up in organic SERP's for queries like Truck Rental in Dubuque. At times on the first page of Google results for a search with a geomodifier you can find as many as 7 IYP directories or local serach sites comprising the top 10 results.
