is it fair for me to ask if you could chart the amount of links you got from all this social activity?
Totally fair... not sure how soon I can pull that together though. That's one measure, among others, of the value/results of social media.
Good post - really interesting to see these numbers and this approach.
Recently, in the last 2 weeks, I've started to use cli.gs to track clicks on links I post to Twitter and I've found on average I get around 15 to 20 visits (with approx 740 followers). However, I did have one link which got over 100 visits.
The interesting thing I noticed was that many of my clicks came from sources other than my followers. For example, microblogbuzz.com, twitturls.com, twitturly.com which all syndicate links posted on Twitter account for many clicks. Also, people re-tweeting my twitters also account for some clicks.
How this directly translates to 'link building' or other specific SEO tasks would be difficult to assess. But one thing is sure - the number of followers you have, while nice for visibility/credibility, is not the only way to measure the value/results of social media - as Brian previously pointed out!
I'm always looking at twitter and trying to gauge th input and output, interesting to see some perspective on number posts / followers to gain strong momentum. Fitz I like your last point, it helps with awareness and I think that would translate well to having visibility on a site like Sphinn.
it's funny to me how big twitter has become as a valid social media tool. I'm not on that fast of a twitter success track. I'm still on the 2 a day (new subscribers) plan...
Thanks for sharing that Fitz, some interesting stats
You don't join twitter for traffic or atleast it plays a totally insignificant role in my reasons why. You do it to network and let people know who you are further than a politically correct "about me" page. You mingle, you network and grow. It's like the most popular bar that never closes and is always filled with likeminded technologically advanced pppl.
Either way good work Brian; enjoyed it.
So how do you see Twitter helping your search marketing?
