It's got to be a tough job to preempt the internet's collective whinging when Google announces a big deal like Chrome, but Mr Cutts steps up. What has he missed?

"Conspiracy theory"? LOL, does Google really have to resort to badmouthing privacy advocates? Are they that desperate? Here are some "conspiracy theories" to swallow Matt:

Load of crap! "we know where you went....we know how long you stayed....we know how you got there....we know where you clicked...." that's not big brother....
Gezz. I'm sorry but the US govt. NEEDS to act...at least before Eric, Sergey, and Larry die....because it this information falls into someone's hands...not good!
They need to restrict Google to ONLY meta data and not allow any specific info, like our IP's.

If this were Threadwatch (I know - it's not) then right around here the UFO stuff would show up.

Seriously, that little bitty about conspiracy theory was unnecessary, and abrasve in a way. The kind of way that makes some bloggers tend to lean towards the don't-trust-Google side.

He repeated it twice, even in the follow up. Sorry, I wanted to hit "+" and hit "-" accidentally on your comment.

Yeah, when he pretends that it's of no concern if "the data is actually downloaded from, not uploaded to Google", what he omit ever so conveniently is that G will still get all your info from you, e.g. your IP/geo location, timestamp, etc. No easy way around that, true - unless you stop this kind of invasive behavior altogether which other browsers (e.g. Firefox) are perfectly capable of. But then of course FF is neither focused on big money nor on "we want to know everything about you" (Eric Schmidt)...
